I say this with the best respect for stock providers...
Thank you, everyone who provides free stock for photomanipulators like myself to use. It is a wonderful gift and blessing that I can explore my talent without spending any money.
With that said could we please keep clear and consistent rules. It's frustrating as a photomanipulator to go through stock after stock, searching for the best fit, looking through the rules, then finally using the stock, only to find that it's not allowed off-site. Most of my work is off-site work. It's completely free. I gain no profit. I credit all the artists involved. I read the rules.
So how does this happen?
Often I find stock with two sets of rules: one on the picture and one in the journal.
This becomes a problem when I see the rules are completely different. Specifically when the image rules say something along the lines of "do whatever" and the journal rules say "no off-site use" or "only use off-site with permission". This is incredibly frustrating as I will look at one set of rules, thinking their the only set of rules, and use those for the image. I would love some clarification on this. I know I could go to the artists, but more often then not they've been inactive from DA for years.
I love everyone who provides stock, and I have the highest respect for them. But I don't want that emote chainsaw jammed in my throat for a misunderstanding.
